We had to take advantage of the nice weather and go on another hike again today. Even though it looked like it was, going to be warm outside, it really wasn’t: This morning we only had around 1°C / 34 °F. But this didn’t stop us from going outside, cause you know the saying: There’s no bad weather just bad clothing. 🙂
So we went to Zavelstein, which is close to Calw. At around 10:30 am we started by the Wanderheim and headed to the Rötelbachtal. It is such a unique and beautiful place.
You always walk along the Rötelbach. It reminded me so much of the Monbachtal, with the difference that it is not so overrun by other hikers (even right now during Rona-Easter time) and in my opinion even prettier. Sometimes it felt like we were walking in a fairytale forest. At around 3.1 miles we came by a playground were we decided to stop and have our lunch break.
The whole route we did was one big loop trail which, at the end, lead us to the castle Zavelstein. This castle has a nice tower that you can visit. Due to Corona they installed a traffic light at the bottom and the top of the tower. Every 8 minutes the light switches to green which means you can either go up or down, depending on where you are. Zavelstein also has a field full of little Krokus flowers. I was a bit bummed, because to see that we would have had to come 2-4 weeks earlier.
At 3 pm we were done with our 5.6 miles hike. The kids and us really loved it and we will definitely come back again.
