My dear friend and super mama Julia Bär told me about something really cool for kids: The puddle jumper. Unfortunately, I don’t see a lot of kids wearing them in Germany. Even though they are so much safer and handy than the arm bends.
We got ours at the Decathlon. Older kids can only use it on their arms or only around their chest. But when they are younger I’d recommend to not take them apart. First you put their arms through the arm bends and then you put the life jacket around their chest. The adjustable buckle in the back ensures a secure fit.
I’m glad it works so great. Our 3 1/2 year old was such a chicken. With the puddle jumper he loves to jump into the water without the risk of drowning. The life jacket on the chest and the arm bends keeps them floating. Their head stays above water all the time. They even learn how to keep the balance. Noam our 2 year old, has a lot of fun with it in the water, too. We’ve been taking the stand up paddle boards out on the water every day. The kids can’t get enough of jumping in the water and getting back up on the board.
Today and 2 days ago we went to the Wellenfreibad in Ailing which is close to Friedrichshafen. They have a very nice area for little kids with two small slides. Whenever you’re in the area you have to check it out.
