Yesterday was a day full of meeting with good old friends we hadn’t seen in years. Landon, who used to be the worship pastor at our church in Vaihingen, drove down from LA and joined us for breakfast. It was so great to see him again. It really felt like we had only seen him last a couple of days ago, (it was three years ago). Now he finally got the chance to meet our two little guys. After breakfast we went to the beach where he and Nate had a lot of fun with the sand and the waves. Nate was running and jumping around equally in awe and excited by the big (by his standards) waves.
For our evening program we drove up to the Anaheim packing house. Back in the old days they used to pack up all the citrus fruits from the area – hence the name Orange County. After an extensive renovation (it used to be just a derelict building until a few years ago) it is now a huge open space with lots of little restaurants. We met up with Heather (she used to go to IBC until she went back home to California in 2013) and her husband Aaron there. It was great to reminisce, catch up on recent events and share stories of our first 2 weeks here in the states. Heather was totally smitten with Noam and almost didn’t want to give him back 🙂 Nate was also happy since he could sit on a tractor while we waited for our food. We half considered taking the tractor with us but they probably would’ve noticed it.
Unfortunately this was also one of those days that went by way too quickly and we had to say our goodbyes. Here’s hoping that our next reunion will be earlier than 2020…
