Yesterday we decided to follow a recommendation from an old friend of mine, Melie: A hike to the origin of the Fils. We parked at the old paper mill near Wiesensteig, from where the 2.2 miles long loop trail started. This trail would be even better without COVID-19 and higher temperatures – you follow the river Fils to its origin, the water is shallow – perfect for a quick, refreshing food bath – and there a few barbecue sites which could be used for a picnic. But even though the weather was perfect for hiking, it was still a little bit too cold for getting in the water.
Speaking of barbecue sites – we encountered a group of people who were collecting firewood for a small bonfire at one of the sites. Once Noam spotted them he was confused and asked us, if they had no home. 🙈 We assured him that they had – luckily they were out of earshot for this conversation 😆
This trail/area is also perfectly suited for those who prefer to ride their bikes (we saw quite a few of them), you could easily extend our “short” loop to include a few more miles.
