<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/a><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\nOn Friday we went in the water one more time. After surfing we visited the sea lions at La Jolla Cove. You can get very close to them – and smell them 😆<\/p>\n\n\n\n Afterwards we stopped by Julian and had, once again after 2014 and 2017, the world\u2019s best apple pie (according to us). We had missed it and the kids loved it too – well, what\u2019s not to love about warm apple pie and vanilla ice cream. Definitely one of the many highlights on our trip.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n Unfortunately I got sick on Friday night with a fever and a cough, Noam as well. Therefore I spent the weekend in bed. Not really how you want to spend your vacation. We went to an urgent care center (a very strange experience for us) on Monday and got a prescription that didn\u2019t really help that much but slowly Noam and I started to get better. We still have the cough but at least the fever\u2019s gone now.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n That\u2019s why Micha and Nate were the only ones to hit the water on Tuesday. Nate had the trainer for himself so he was able to paddle out into the line up, to the bigger, green waves. He was super thrilled and really gave it everything for this first time. He did go through the washing machine once or twice though 🙈 The trainers at the school were really impressed how good our two boys already are. Afterwards we filled our empty stomachs at Phil\u2019s BBQ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This Wednesday we first had to stop by San Diego airport to exchange our car. Apparently the oil level was low and since you\u2019re not allowed to fill it up yourself all you can do is get a new rental car. Annoying, but no big problem as the airport was on the way to the USS Midway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The kids were able to earn another badge at the USS Midway, a Junior Pilot Badget to be precise. The ship is equally huge and impressive. They also give short talks about how to start and how to land on an aircraft carrier, even with some interactive parts for the kids. We kind of underestimated how big the carrier is and were pretty exhausted after spending a good 4 hours on and below deck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For our last full day here in California we had lunch at a Mexican restaurant, Veronica\u2019s Kitchen in Descanso. Afterwards we drove to San Diego to visit the Cabrillo National Monument. We had planned to visit it 10 years ago but were too late (they already close the park at 5 pm for whatever reason). To finish the day we enjoyed the sunset at sunset cliffs (where else) together with many other tourists and equally as many surfers in the water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Last Wednesday we finally arrived at our final destination for this vacation: San Diego. After all the hotels, we\u2019re now staying at a beautiful AirBnB about an hour outside of San Diego, in Pine Valley.
