Slowly our journey is coming to an end. 😞 We spent the last days on the Californian\u00a0coast. First at the Pismo Beach Campground. This one is at the beach right behind some dunes, which means you don’t have an ocean view. But there’s a trail going to the beach. We enjoyed the two nights there very much. We had nothing planned, just walking on the beach, collecting shells…\u00a0Nate had a blast with all the animals. They had lots of squirrels, ducks, crows, butterflys and snakes there. Yes there were snakes. I almost stepped on one, cause I saw her too late. The crows were so annoying. Every morning they did a Riverdance\u00a0on top of our RV\u00a0and\u00a0woke us up way too early.\u00a0We couldn’t even scare them off.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

After 2 nights we drove\u00a0to Jalama Beach.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Oh wow, it was so windy there. As the neighbors told us later, they had\u00a070 miles per hour winds the night before. Yes, we also got to know our neighbors again, David and Celia. A lovely family with 3 boys. All of them a little bit older than our boys, but they still got along very well. And, as we found out later, he is\u00a0a pastor at a\u00a0church in the greater\u00a0LA area. So funny, I mean, what are the odds\u00a0that we meet someone like that at the end of our trip. If there’s one thing we learned on our trips is that\u00a0there are no coincidences.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We tried sitting around the fire with them later. But unfortunately the wind had picked\u00a0up so much, that we got a painful microdermabrasion and a lot of sand in our mouths. That just meant we had to go to bed early. The night was really stormy, too. But the next morning it was all gone and beautiful outside.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Michael got us some breakfast burritos from a nearby caf\u00e9 so that we could enjoy our breakfast right on the beach. The night before Michael got invited by David to go surfing with him the next day. They brought their surfboards and wetsuits. So after having some breakfast it was time to put on the wetsuit, which was hard enough. Then they went into the water. The whole thing looked easier from outside than it actually was. But Michael did a good job being on a surf board for the first time. He even managed to stand at the end.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I couldn’t help myself not going into the water. It was so tempting. Celia offered me her wetsuit. But I wanted to know how cold the water really was. And it was cold! I’ve never experienced something that cold. I had even a hard time catching my breath. But it was totally worth it and so refreshing.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

After a short walk along the beach we had a BBQ.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Unfortunately the wind caught up again, which meant this night we didn’t get the chance to sit around a fire yet again. With a heavy heart we packed up our stuff the next morning, said our goodbyes and left for our last campground. This was by far the best campground we’ve been to during our entire trip. We hope that we’ll have the chance of coming back there again one day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
