Last weekend we went to the Cattail Cove Campground at Lake Havasu. The first night there was\u00a0unbearable. We had more than 30 degrees Celsius at night and could\u00a0not\u00a0sleep without the AC. Thank God we had power and water hook up again. We arrived pretty late since we just had to use the pool at the previous campground one more time :). The campground was a lot more crowded, probably because we came on a weekend and we had cinco the mayo (a Mexican holiday). On the next day the temperature outside was way better cause it was really windy. In the morning we did a little bit of hiking on a trail next to the lake.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Around noon the Salaris showed up to stay with us until the next day. They drove around 5 hours only to spend some time with us and their godson. In\u00a0the afternoon we went to the beach despite the sandstorms that hit us all the time.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Katie and Reza found a Mexican place in the neighborhood and brought some carne asada, guacamole and tacos for dinner.<\/p>\n

Because of the storm we had to hold on to our plates almost all the time, otherwise it would have hit the neighbor in his face. After a very stormy night we had a pancake & bacon breakfast the next morning. The storm had calmed down, which made it possible for us to sit outside.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Right before we left for Seligman\u00a0we got to meet our new neighbors. We found out that they were Germans from Berlin with 2 kids (9 months and 3 1\/2 years old. They are also using their parental leave to explore the US.<\/p>\n

On Sunday afternoon we took the Route 66 to Seligman, our intermediate stop on the way to the Grand Canyon. We’ll get to\u00a0the south rim of the Grand Canyon on Monday. (The weather forecast doesn’t look good though. There’s hoping it’ll change so that we can still do what we were planning to do there.)<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Compared to the places we’ve been so far it is really cold here. Last night we had only 11\u00b0 C in our RV. Or how Diana put it: Cold like never ever before – even with\u00a0Merino underwear and two blankets. That’s why we had to switch on the furnace in order to have at least 16\u00b0 C in the RV. Then it was somehow bearable. This drop in temperature also made it necessary for Nate to test his new sleeping bag. After a short settling-in-period that was accompanied by the occasional screaming he seems to really like it now (this morning he slept till quarter to nine\u00a0:D).<\/p>\n

The next nights will also get quite chilly, let’s see how we’ll cope then…<\/p>\n
